Thiago Soares Alves (born July 26, 1986 in Porto Alegre ) is a Brazilian volleyball player .

Career

Alves was initially active in judo , football and basketball . In 1996 he started his volleyball career with Grêmio Naútico União . He won several titles in youth competitions. In 2002 the outside attacker was appointed to the Brazilian junior national team for the first time, with which he became world champion the following year. In 2003 he also moved to Bento Vôlei Gonçalves . With his new club he won the Brazilian championship in 2004. After a season with AOLE São Leopoldo , Alves returned to Bento Vôlei in 2005. In 2006/07 he played at EC Unisul . In 2007 he made his debut in the senior national team , with which he won the world league in the same year . He was then committed by Cimed Florianópolis . With Cimed he was Brazilian champion in 2008 and 2009. With the national team he was again successful in the world league in 2009 and also won the South American Championship . In 2010, his third title in the world league followed . The outside attacker moved to SESI São Paulo for one season . In 2011, Brazil defended the title in the continental championship with Alves and won the Pan American Games . Alves moved abroad for the first time to the Japanese first division club Panasonic Panthers . With the club he won the Emperor's Cup and the national championship in 2012. At the Olympic Games in London he won the silver medal with Brazil.
