Thiers is a quarter ( French : Quartier ) of the southern French city ​​of Marseille in the Bouches-du-Rhône department . Thiers belongs to the 1st arrondissement (city district) and the canton of Marseille-Belsunce . In 2006, 5639 people lived here.

In the north, the district is bordered by the Canebière and the Boulevard de la Liberation . In the east, forming Rue Saint-Savournin and the Place Jean Jaurès the border, in the south of the Rue de 3 Mages , the southwest of the Cours Julien and west of the boulevard Garibaldi .

The Théâtre du Gymnase is located in Thiers. The theater, which opened on September 13, 1804, has 695 seats. It was completely renovated from 1980 to 1985 and has been owned by the City of Marseille since 1983. There is also a secondary school in Thiers, the Lycée Thiers .
