Thomas Arno Klar is a German physicist and director of the Institute for Applied Physics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz .

Life

After attending the Apian High School in Ingolstadt , Klar studied physics from 1991 to 1997 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the University of Edinburgh . He completed his studies in September 1997 as a graduate physicist. Klar worked from 1997 to 2001 in Stefan Hell's group at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen and at the University of Heidelberg , where he obtained his doctorate in 2001 . He helped to experimentally confirm the theories of Stefan Hell and Jan Wichmann on super-resolution fluorescence microscopy . In 2007 he completed his habilitation in experimental physics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Until 2010 he was a professor at the Technical University of Ilmenau . Since 2010 Thomas A. Klar has been Professor of Physics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz and Head of the Institute for Applied Physics.
