Thomas Ansell Marshall

Thomas Ansell Marshall (born March 18, 1827 in Keswick , † April 11, 1903 in Ajaccio ) was a British entomologist . He published on hymenoptera (especially hymenoptera parasitic).

Life

Marshall studied at Oxford (Trinity College). His main occupation was a clergyman (Reverend) and teacher. From 1889 he was rector of Botus Fleming for eight years before he retired to Corsica.

Besides about hymenoptera from Great Britain, he published about those in Venezuela, Lapland and Spitzbergen, the rest of Europe and Algeria. Its collections ( braconids (Braconidae) parasitic wasps (Ichneumonidae), Real sawflies (u. Al.) In the Natural History Museum and the Hungarian National Museum of Natural History. He many first descriptions had, the collections are also home to much type material .

He was a Fellow of the Entomological Society of London (member from 1865).
