from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Böhm (* 1955 ) is a German educator and author on questions of school law .

Live and act

Böhm studied law , English and education in Bonn and Bochum . In 1986 he passed the second state examination for teaching at upper secondary level with a focus on vocational schools. In 1988 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on legal education in Germany and the USA. As a lecturer for the Institute for Teacher Training in Essen, Böhm leads seminars for teachers on questions of school law. As the author of books on questions of school law, Böhm is present as an interview partner for the media across the region.

Positions

Böhm states that parents often underestimate the powers of teachers. Too often parents would only see the rights of their own child, but not the concerns of the school community. On the other hand, Böhm also criticizes the inadequate knowledge of many teachers about school law, in his view, that this topic is only treated "neglected" in teacher training. Böhm criticizes the legislation for the fact that much is formulated “too vaguely”, which also contributes to the uncertainty of action among school actors.
