Thomas Brüninghoff (born October 13, 1964 in Lingen ) is a German politician ( FDP ). He has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2019 .

The trained car mechanic served as a temporary soldier in the German Armed Forces for four years. Since then he has been working as a technical employee for a women's clothing company with additional training as a specialist for occupational safety.

Brüninghoff joined the FDP in 2006. Since 2009 he has been chairman of the FDP district association in the county of Bentheim . In the local elections in Lower Saxony in 2016 , he moved to the city council of Nordhorn .

For the state election in Lower Saxony in 2017, Brüninghoff stood in the constituency of Grafschaft Bentheim . On June 18, 2019, he replaced Jan-Christoph Oetjen in the state parliament, which was elected to the European Parliament in May 2019 . Brüninghoff is the spokesperson for federal and European affairs, regional development and youth.

Brüninghoff lives in Nordhorn. He is married and has one grown son.
