Thomas Brinkmann (hockey player)

Thomas Brinkmann (born January 5, 1968 in Duisburg ) is a former German hockey player . He won an Olympic silver medal in 1988.

Career

Thomas Brinkmann played like his brother Dirk for Uhlenhorst Mülheim ; he was a midfielder, but was also used in defense. He played in the first team from 1985 and was there when Mülheim won their first championship title in 1985 after 21 years. Seven more titles followed by 1995, and in 1987 the club also won indoors. From 1988 Brinkmann was also in several winning teams at the European Champions Cup .

In May 1987 Thomas Brinkmann made his debut in the German national team . After he had finished third with the team in 1987 at the European Championships, he participated in the 1988 Olympic Games in five games, including in the final defeat against the British. In 1991 and 1994 he won the European Indoor Championships with the German team. Thomas Brinkmann played a total of 99 international matches from 1987 to 1995, 5 of them indoors.
