Thomas Brooks (painter)
Thomas Brooks (* 1818 in Kingston upon Hull , † June 1892 ) was a British painter.
He studied in London at Sass' Art School and from 1838 at the Royal Academy of Arts with Henry Perronet Briggs , he also had a study visit to Paris . In 1848 he left Kingston upon Hull and settled in London. Brooks painted genre pictures and portraits as well as dramatic lake scenes from 1859. While influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites in the 1850s and 60s , he later focused on Victorian painting.
