Thomas Campbell (theologian)
Thomas Campbell (born February 1, 1763 in Ireland , † January 4, 1854 in Bethany , Virginia ) was an American Presbyterian pastor of Irish origin. His life's work was the unification of the Presbyterians split into four groups.
He emigrated to America in 1807 and resigned from the Church in 1808 because his synod forbade him to celebrate the Lord's Supper with Presbyterians who did not belong to his congregation.
Together with the revival preacher Barton Warren Stone founded the Disciples of Christ . His son Alexander continued his work.
