Thomas David Smith McDowell
Thomas David Smith McDowell (born January 4, 1823 in Bladen County , North Carolina , † May 1, 1898 ibid) was an American politician .
McDowell was a member of the North Carolina State Legislature from 1846 to 1850 . He then held a seat in the North Carolina Senate from 1854 to 1858 . He also represented his state at the Secession Convention as well as in the Provisional Confederate Congress and in the 1st Confederate Congress .
