Thomas Domres (born July 4, 1970 in Perleberg , Schwerin district , GDR ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). Since 1999 he has been a member of the Brandenburg state parliament .

Domres completed vocational training as an agricultural machinery and tractor fitter between 1987 and 1989 after graduating from the Polytechnic High School . From 1989 to 1991 he did his military service. Between 1991 and 1993 he completed another apprenticeship, this time as a state-approved geriatric nurse at the Medical College Wittenberge . From 1993 to 1999 he worked as a geriatric nurse at the State Committee for Internal Mission .

In 1990 Domres joined the PDS , was a member of Die Linkspartei.PDS from July 2005 and of Die Linke from June 2007. He is a member of the state board of DIE LINKE.Brandenburg and district chairman DIE LINKE.Prignitz. In 1993 he was elected to the city ​​council of his hometown Perleberg. He was from 1998 to 1999 and since 2008 he has been a member of the Prignitz district council .

Since the state election to the Brandenburg state parliament in September 1999, he has been its member and since 2012 a member of its presidium.
He had been a member of the Petitions Committee since 1999 and chaired it from 2004 to 2012. He was also a member of the electoral review committee from 2004 to 2008, from 2008 to 2009 a member of the committee for home affairs and from 2004 to 2008 and from 2009 to 2012 a member of the committee for economics. He has been a member of the main committee since 2012 and of the committee for rural development, the environment and agriculture since 2014.

On August 20, 2012 he was elected Parliamentary General Manager of the Left Group.
