Thomas Duffus Hardy

Thomas Duffus Hardy (born May 22, 1804 in Port Royal , Jamaica, † June 15, 1878 ) was an English historian.

Live and act

Sir Thomas Duffus Hardy joined the Public Record Office ( State Archives ) in London in 1819 as a clerk, where he remained employed until his death; from 1861 he was director of the same, in 1869 he was knighted.

The government entrusted him with editing the Monumenta historica britannica , for which he wrote the general introduction. He issued a large number of medieval documents on English history with skill and care.
