Thomas Gautschi (sociologist)

Thomas Gautschi (born April 22, 1969 in Thun ) is a Swiss sociologist . He is professor for methods of empirical social research at the University of Mannheim .

Life

From 1989 to 1997 Gautschi studied economics and sociology at the University of Bern . From 1997 to 2001 he completed a graduate degree at the Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology of the University of Utrecht . Gautschi received his Ph.D. PhD . He then worked from 2002 to 2009 as a research assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the University of Bern.

In the winter semester of 2009 he represented the chair for methods of empirical social research and applied sociology at the University of Mannheim. Since the end of 2009 he has been W3 professor for methods of empirical social research there. In addition to the methods, economic sociology , network theory and game theory are his main research areas.
