Thomas Helbig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thomas Helbig (* 1967 in Rosenheim ) is a German painter.

Career

Helbig studied from 1989 to 1996 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at Goldsmiths, University of London . He lives and works in Berlin and Munich.

Works

Although Helbig primarily focused on painting during his training, he now works with various media. Sculpture, painting and drawing have a balanced meaning within the overall work. The starting point for the sculptures is often an existing object, found at a flea market or in a second-hand shop . In a process of construction and deconstruction, mutating hybrids emerge from the found object, which communicate with one another in their many forms.
