Cognac Antique XO by Thomas Hine & Co.

Thomas Hine & Co. is a French cognac manufacturer based in Jarnac in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region .

history

In 1791 the sixteen year old Thomas Hine left his home county of Dorset , England , to seek his fortune in France. He chose the Cognac region, possibly because his family, who lived on the south coast, were involved in the cognac smuggling. During the French Revolution he was arrested as a spy and imprisoned in the old castle of Jarnac.

After his release, he married Françoise Elisabeth, whose father owned a cognac company in Jarnac. He became active in the company and devoted the rest of his life to this branch of industry. Over the years, he took the art of cognac production to a new level and continued to develop the company. In 1821, a year before his death, he gave the company the name Thomas Hine & Co., which is still valid today . The Hine house, where the sixth generation of the family now produces cognac, is still on the banks of the Charente River , 16, quai de l ' Orangery.
