Thomas RJ Hoyer (born December 1, 1950 in Hamburg ) is a German entrepreneur.

Life and professional history

Hoyer is the son of Walter Bruno Hoyer (born February 13, 1915 in Hamburg, † December 17, 2002) and Frieda Hoyer, b. Lemayr, (born January 13, 1916 in Kaltern / South Tyrol, † November 11, 2011) and has three sisters. He spent his childhood in Hamburg. In 1970 he passed his humanistic Abitur at the Matthias-Claudius-Gymnasium and then completed his military service in Flensburg, which he finished as an officer in the reserve. From 1972 to 1976 Thomas Hoyer studied at the University of St. Gallen with a lic.oec degree. HSG. During this time he gained a wide range of practical experience during various summer internships in friendly companies. It was deepened from 1977 during his apprenticeship at Kühne & Nagel in Hamburg, which he completed with a commercial assistant letter from the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce . First international experience came in 1978 during a work stay at Mason & Dixon Tanklines, Kingsport / Tennessee (USA) and in 1979 during a work stay at Brambles Bulk Haulage, Sydney (Australia). In 1980, he officially joined HOYER as an authorized signatory. In 1991 he succeeded his father, the company founder Walter Bruno Hoyer, as managing director and realized the strong expansion of the company and the expansion of the business abroad and overseas. Thomas Hoyer was also the management spokesman for over 20 years. Since 2007 he has been Chairman (Chairman of the Advisory Board) of the HOYER Group .

In September 2018 Thomas RJ Hoyer received the Hamburg Founder Award for his life's work.

Personal

Thomas Hoyer is married to Penelope Hoyer, nee Loneragan, and has two daughters. In addition to his commitment to the HOYER Group, he is a passionate hunter and is interested in the history of Prussia as well as in art and paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries.
