Thomas Ingenlath

Thomas Ingenlath (* 1964 in Krefeld ) is a German car designer . He has been Chief Design Officer at Volvo Cars since 2012 and CEO of Polestar since 2017 . From 1991 to 2012 he held various positions for the Volkswagen Group .

Thomas Ingenlath completed his design studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Pforzheim and at the Royal College of Arts in London, where he specialized in automotive design. After joining Volkswagen AG, he initially worked for Audi (1991–1994), later as Head of Exterior Design at Volkswagen (1995–2000) and then as Head of Design at Škoda (2000–2006). From 2006 to 2012, as Director of the Volkswagen Design Center in Potsdam, he was in charge of projects for all Volkswagen AG brands. In 2012, Ingenlath moved to Volvo, where he took overall responsibility for Volvo design. He has been CEO of the electric car manufacturer Polestar since 2017 . He was awarded the " Design Hero 2017".
