life and work

From 1975 to 1981 Kemper studied painting at the University of Applied Sciences for Art and Design in Cologne. Starting with figurative painting, Kemper increasingly reduced the figure in the 1980s, until at the beginning of the 1990s only a linear trace remained with potential for association. In the 1990s, areas of color were added which, through their superimposition and juxtaposition, provide the linear elements of painting with a space for action. Linear and two-dimensional elements enter into an exciting dialogue without merging with one another. Since 2000, linear painting has been completely separated from color field painting by distributing it on small-format image carriers . These are then related to each other again in a wall arrangement.

Since 1990 Kemper has exhibited in Cologne , Bonn , Langenhagen , New York City , Philadelphia , Bad Doberan , Grevenbroich , Berlin , Essen and Hamburg .
