Thomas Kowsky

Thomas Kowsky (born March 31, 1932 in Harburg-Wilhelmsburg ) is a dock worker and former member of the Hamburg citizenship for the GAL .

Life and politics

Thomas Kowsky, born in 1932, did an apprenticeship as a deckhand in shipping from 1946 to 1950 after completing secondary school. He was then unemployed before he found employment as a port worker in the port of Hamburg in 1952 .

In 1976 he acquired the port skilled worker certificate and rose to the position of foreman for the company Eurokai KGaA in the container terminal.

At the end of 1963 he joined the public services, transport and traffic union (ÖTV). His functions there included deputy chairman of the Eurokai stewardship and - from 1976 on - deputy works council.

In 1980 he became a member of the Green Alternative List. From February 25, 1985 to 1988 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament. He took up his post as the successor to Bernd Vetter , who had resigned from his mandate. From 1993 to 1997 he was a member of the Bergedorf District Assembly for the GAL .
