In 1987/88 he was once again in the Oberliga lineup of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt, but was no longer used, among other things because a new goalkeeper had been built with the six years younger Holger Hiemann . Michalowski's last appearance for FCK in the league game on October 18, 1986 Wismut Aue - FC Karl-Marx-Stadt (1: 1) was also his last appearance in higher-class football.
