Holger Hiemann (born January 12, 1968 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper who played in the GDR Oberliga and the Bundesliga .
Athletic career
BSG, club and association stations
Holger Hiemann started his career in 1979 at BSG Post Karl-Marx-Stadt and in 1983 he joined the youth team at FC Karl-Marx-Stadt . With the youth and juniors of the FCK, he won the FDJ Cup in 1984 and GDR champion in 1986 .
For the first team of FC Karl-Marx-Stadt, the 1.86 meter tall Hiemann played 44 GDR league games and was GDR runner-up with the Saxons in 1990. He played his first GDR league game before the 1986/87 season as goalkeeper number 3 behind Michael Kompalla and Thomas Michalowski , on February 28, 1987 in the match between FCK and Energie Cottbus (0-0). This season, after his premiere on the second match day in the second half of the season, Hiemann immediately became a regular goalkeeper and played all league games in the goal of Karl-Marx-Städter up to the 26th round.
After the reunification , FC Karl-Marx-Stadt was renamed Chemnitzer FC and played with Hiemann in the 2nd Bundesliga South from 1991 and in the single-track 2nd Bundesliga from 1992. Hiemann played his first game in the 2nd division on July 24, 1991 against 1. FSV Mainz 05 . During his time with the first team of the FCK / CFC at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s, he took turns with Jens Schmidt at the goal of the Himmelblauen . In the context of the 1989/90 possibility of a guest permit for league footballers in the second-class league opened in GDR football , the goalkeeper was called up in six games at BSG dkk Scharfenstein / Krumhermersdorf in the spring . In four seasons of the all-German second division, he was used in 91 games for the Chemnitz.
In 1995 he moved to Hamburger SV in the Bundesliga . He had his first Bundesliga appearance on December 8, 1995 against Eintracht Frankfurt . In Hamburg he was only a substitute goalkeeper behind Richard Golz and in two years he made five appearances in the Bundesliga and one in the DFB Cup . After moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 1997, Holger Hiemann played six more Bundesliga games.
In 2001 he returned to Chemnitzer FC in the Regionalliga Nord . There he played 64 times in the regional league and once in the DFB Cup over the next three years.
Selection bets
In the fall of 1986 he won the European Junior Championship in Yugoslavia with the GDR U-19 . His performance at the tournament was summed up by the GDR football magazine fuwo as follows: “A very reliable bottom man, an essential pillar of our defense.” At the end of this year, as part of a reader survey in the team category before the swimming and national volleyball teams for women, who finished in 2nd and 3rd place, received the award for Sportsman of the Year in the GDR .
Holger Hiemann also took part in the 1987 U-20 World Cup in Chile , where the East German team finished third. The regular goalkeeper at this tournament was the Leipzig Lok goalkeeper Ingo Saager , but the FCK goalkeeper played a decisive role in winning the bronze medal in the small final against the hosts after being substituted on in the 83rd minute.
After the junior period, he moved up in the junior selection. For the qualifying games for the U-21 European Championship in 1990 , those responsible for the selection relied on the BFC goalkeeper Oskar Kosche . Between 1986 and 1989 he stood between the posts for the U-18, U-19, U-20 and U-21 of the DFV in twelve international matches.
Coaching career
From 2010 to 2018, Hiemann worked as a goalkeeping coach at his parent club Chemnitzer FC and in the youth team.
