Thomas Noel Bisson
Thomas Noel Bisson (born March 30, 1931 in New York City ) is an American historian.
Life
He was Professor of Medieval History at Swarthmore College , Amherst College , Brown University , the University of Berkeley, and Harvard University . Since 1975 he has been a member of the American Philosophical Society and the Medieval Academy of America , which awarded him its Haskins Medal in 1989 . He received an honorary doctorate from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 1991. In 1992 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences . Since 1990 he has been a corresponding member of the British Academy . In 2001 the Generalitat de Catalunya awarded him the Creu de Sant Jordi .
