Thomas Roberts

Thomas Roberts (born November 4, 1958 , † January 31, 2006 ) was an American guitarist and songwriter for the punk band Poison Idea .

Life

Poison Idea was founded in 1980 by Jerry Lang and consisted of Jerry A., Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts (guitar), Glen Estes (bass) and Dean Johnson (drums). Roberts was a member of the band from 1981.

He took his nickname in the band, "Pig Champion", when he reached the limit of 204 kilograms on the scales. In addition to being very overweight, he was also credited with alcohol and drug consumption for decades. Roberts named the motto in an interview in 1990: “ Live fast, die young and leave a good-looking corpse.” (German: “Live fast, die young and leave a good-looking corpse”).

In 1993 Roberts left the band. He died at his Portland home on January 31, 2006, aged 47.
