Thomas Ruster

Thomas Ruster (born December 16, 1955 in Cologne ) is a German, Roman Catholic theologian at the TU Dortmund . His focus is on dogmatics and systematic theology .

Life

Ruster grew up with three siblings in a conservative Catholic home. Studying Roman Catholic theology in Bonn and Paris (1974–1979) was followed by a doctorate in 1983 with the title “Sacramental Understanding. A contribution to the theological understanding of truth and at the same time a conversation with Eugen Biser and Ernst Fuchs ”. The habilitation took place in 1994 in the subject of fundamental theology ("The lost usefulness of religion. About the encounter between Catholicism and modernity in the theology of the Weimar Republic"). Since 1995 Thomas Ruster has been Univ.-Professor for "Theology and its Didactics with a focus on Systematic Theology / Dogmatics" at the TU Dortmund.

Thomas Ruster is a member of the “9.5 Theses” initiative group, which advocates the establishment of an economic system based on Christian values.
