Norbert Kleyboldt

Norbert Kleyboldt (born August 9, 1943 in Ahaus ) was vicar general in the diocese of Münster from 1999 to 2016 . He is emeritus cathedral dean at the cathedral church in Münster and papal honorary chaplain . He also worked as a subsidiary in the parish of Liebfrauen-Überwasser in Münster.

origin

Kleyboldt's father was a sexton at the St. Mary's Assumption Church in Ahaus. He grew up with three brothers in the sexton's house.

Priestly career

After studying theology and philosophy in Münster and Munich, he was ordained a priest on March 1, 1970. First he was chaplain in Rheine, St. Ludgerus. In 1974 he became the police pastor in Münster. He also became a subsidiar to St. Michael in Münster-Gievenbeck, which he still holds today (the parish is now called Liebfrauen-Überwasser after the merger). In 1976 he became vicar at the cathedral in Münster . In 1980 he became head of the main administration department of the Münster General Vicariate. They had noticed him through a part-time restructuring of the City Caritas Association in Munster, of which he was chairman. In 1984 he was awarded the honorary title of Papal Honorary Chaplain . In 1989 he was accepted into the Münster cathedral chapter as resident cathedral chapter . In 1993 he was appointed deputy vicar general and in 2007 cathedral dean. He held this office until his retirement on August 10, 2018.

Acting as vicar general

Bishop Reinhard Lettmann appointed him Vicar General in 1999 and thus the successor to Werner Thissen , who was appointed auxiliary bishop. On March 29, 2008, Kleyboldt was appointed permanent representative by the then diocesan administrator Franz-Josef Overbeck , who headed the diocese until a new diocesan bishop was appointed. On March 29, 2009, Kleyboldt was reappointed Vicar General by Bishop Felix Genn . Kleyboldt's work as vicar general is particularly marked by the restructuring of the parishes. Kleyboldt's service as vicar general ended on July 1, 2016 with the inauguration of his successor Norbert Köster .

Memberships

Norbert Kleyboldt was received by the Unitas Münster in 1965 and is a member of the WKSt.V. Unitas Wiking-Sugambria (today Osnabrück ) and WKSt.V. Unitas Rheinpfalz, Munich . Since 2001 he has been an honorary member of the Catholic student association AV Cheruscia Münster.
