Thomas Steger (economist)

Thomas Steger (born November 4, 1966 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss business economist and university lecturer .

Life

Steger grew up in Lucerne and studied economics with a focus on business administration at the University of Friborg from 1986 to 1991 . After gaining practical experience, he took up a position as a research assistant at the Technical University of Chemnitz in 1993 . There was carried out in 2000 promotion to Dr. rer. pole. with the dissertation Individual legitimacy and legitimation in the transformation process: an empirical analysis in East German industrial companies . He also completed his habilitation in Chemnitz in 2006. Between 2002 and 2008, he also held a junior professorship for European management.

In 2006/07 Steger represented the chair for corporate management, organization and human resources at the University of Hohenheim . From 2008 to 2011 he taught as a private lecturer at the Political Science Faculty of the University of Erfurt, where he represented the chair for organizational theory and management.

In 2011, Steger accepted an appointment at the University of Regensburg . There he holds the chair for business administration, in particular leadership and organization.

Research priorities

Steger deals with the subject areas of corporate governance and in particular with supervisory boards and employee equity participation. A special focus of his research is on transition countries in Eastern and Central Europe.
