Thor Henning

Thor Bernhard Henning (born September 13, 1894 in Stockholm , † October 7, 1967 ibid) was a Swedish swimmer . He specialized in the chest and freestyle styles.

Henning was a member of the Stockholm swimming club SK Neptun and between 1912 and 1924 he was a member of the Swedish Olympic team three times. In total he won four medals.

At the 1912 Summer Olympics in his native Stockholm, he came second behind German Walter Bathe over 400 meters chest. Eight years later, at the Summer Games in Antwerp, he finished second both over 200 meters and over 400 meters behind his compatriot Håkan Malmrot . At the 1924 Games in Paris, he was used in the heats in the Swedish 4x200m freestyle relay, which in the end - without his participation - won the bronze medal.

In 1992 he was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame .
