Thorn Lighting is a manufacturer of indoor and outdoor lighting with integrated controls based in Spennymoor , UK . history
Thorn emerged from the Electric Lamp Service Company founded by Jules Thorn in 1928 . The company has been part of the Zumtobel Group since 2000 . In 2006 the Airfield division was sold to the Swedish company Safegate.
Projects and orders
In September 2006, Thorn received a major order worth 3 million euros for the expansion of Beijing Airport . This is the largest order Thorn has ever received in China. As part of this, the airport will be expanded by a third terminal with 420,000 m² and the number of passengers that can be handled here will be increased by 25 million per year. Thorn has received the order to illuminate the new building for "Terminal 3".
