Thorold (Turold) de Pont-Audemer († strangled after 1040) was a Norman nobleman from the early years of the Duchy of Normandy . He is one of the founding fathers of the Beaumont family .

Thorold was the son of Torf and married to a sister of Gunnora (see also FitzOsbern ), the lover or wife of Duke Richard I of Normandy . Her sons were Onfroi de Vieilles , the father of Roger de Beaumont , and probably also another (another) Roger, mentioned around 1060.

Thorold therefore belonged to the immediate circle of the Norman dukes, was an uncle of Duke Richard II. He is mentioned as Turaldus in a document that is dated to 1035. In addition, he is referred to as the tutor of the young Duke Wilhelm II , who died in his first years in office.
