Giffard (noble family)

The Giffard are a family of the Anglo-Norman aristocracy who are related to the Danish Gunnora , concubine Richard I , Duke of Normandy and mother of his children. Gautier Giffard received the rule of Longueville from William the Conqueror and went to England with him in 1066. His son Walter became the 1st Earl of Buckingham .

The family died out with his son, the 2nd Earl of Buckingham, the inheritance went to the Clare family via his aunt Rohese .
