Bolbec is a French municipality with 11,417 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Seine-Maritime in the region Normandy . It belongs to the arrondissement of Le Havre and the canton of Bolbec .

history

The place is called Bolebec in the 11th century . Old Norse place name bekkr "Bach" des Boli (Danish-Nordic one- piece nickname, which also appears in Bolleville , eight kilometers away ) mentioned for the first time.

After the Second World War, a camp for German prisoners of war was located here.

Town twinning

There was a town partnership with the former Lower Saxony district of Wittlage (until the municipal reform in 1972). This partnership is continued today by the municipalities of Bad Essen , Bohmte and Ostercappeln , which all belonged to the Wittlage district.
