Gruchet-le-Valasse is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Bolbec in the north, Beuzevillette in the northeast, Lintot in the east, La Trinité-du-Mont and Lillebonne in the southeast, Saint-Antoine-la-Forêt in the south and southwest, and Saint-Eustache-la -Forêt to the west.

In 1830 the municipalities of Gruchet and Le Valasse were merged.
