Thorsten Paprotny

Thorsten Paprotny (* 1971 ) is a German Roman Catholic philosopher , literary critic and author .

Thorsten Paprotny studied philosophy and German, as well as theology , sociology and pedagogy . In 1997 he did his doctorate at the Leibniz University in Hanover with Gerd-Günther Grau in the field of philosophical anthropology on the subject of “Dissonant Harmony. On the cultural-anthropological significance of symbolic forms ”. He then held lectureships at the Philosophical Seminar at the same university until 2010 , from 2010 to 2014 he was a research assistant and then until 2017 a lecturer at the Institute for Theology and Religious Studies. Since then he has been working as a freelance writer.

His main topics are the history of philosophy, theology, cultural and religious philosophy, political theory and religious studies, where he works as a reviewer and author. In addition to works on the history of philosophy, he also published children's books. He regularly publishes comments and essays in the non-church, private online magazine kath.net , which represents a conservative theological and socio-political point of view, and in the similarly oriented news portal CNA deutsch ; there he criticizes the German Bishops' Conference and the Synodal Way of the Roman Catholic Church in Germany.
