Thorsten Wenning

Thorsten Wenning (born March 3, 1982 in Stade ) is a German screenwriter and film director .

Life

After graduating from high school and doing community service, Thorsten worked as an editor for short and feature films and studied history and philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In October 2006 he began studying stage direction at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy, during which he made several short films. Wenning successfully completed his studies in April 2012. His diploma film Backpack was shot in Indonesia and is about the young traveler Daniel, who threatens to get lost in the agonizing loneliness of the distance. The film was shown internationally at festivals in 2014 and was nominated in three categories for the German Young Talent Award “First Steps”, where it ultimately won the “No Fear Award” for the best production.
