Thrinle Pelchor

Khenchen Thrinle Pelchor Rinpoche ( Tib .: mkhan chen 'phrin las dpal' byor rin po che ; * 1930 in Nangchen, Kham (Eastern Tibet )) is a well-known meditation master and Khenchen (chief abbot) of the Karma Kagyu tradition. He is also the personal tutor of Trungram Gyaltrul Rinpoche and one of the teachers of Thaye Dorje , one of the Karmapa candidates.

Life

In 1948 he received full monastic ordination as a Tibetan monk and subsequently went through several three-year meditation retreats in accordance with the Barom Kagyu tradition. He was then appointed retreat master (Tib. Drubpön) of Bakyod Monastery in 1957, before he fled Tibet to India in 1959. The 16th Gyalwa Karmapa made him responsible for the Trashi Choling Monastery in Bhutan in 1960. He received extensive empowerments from the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, including the Kagyu Ngag Dzö. From Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche he received the Damngag Dzö, Rinchen Terdzö and the Drubthab Küntü. In 1972 the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa named him the mentor of the fourth Trungram Gyaltrul Rinpoche , an important master of the Karma Kagyu tradition. In recognition of his spiritual merits, Künsig Shamar Rinpoche awarded him the title of Rinpoche (Precious) and Karmapa candidate Thaye Dorje appointed him a Khenchen (chief abbot) of the Karma Kagyu tradition on November 21, 1999 . Khenchen Thrinle Peljor Rinpoche transferred the practice of the six Dharmas of Naropa to Thaye Dorje in 2002 and intensively guided it in this central practice of the Karma Kagyu tradition during a subsequent several months retreat.
