The fourth Trungram Gyaltrul (* 1968 ) is the head of the Trungram lineage and one of the most important trulkus within the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism .

Life

He was born in 1968 into a Nepalese Sherpa family and recognized by the 16th Gyelwa Karmapa as the reincarnation of the 3rd Trungram Gyaltrul. The 16th Karmapa provided him with Khenchen Thrinle Pelchor Rinpoche as his personal tutor, who has accompanied him to this day. In addition to a classical Tibetan education at the Nalanda Institute in Rumtek , Sikkim, which earned him the title Karabchampa (the equivalent of the Geshe title of the Gelugpa tradition) in 1990 , he is considered to be a doctoral degree at Harvard (Indo-Tibetan Buddhist studies) the first Tibetan trülku to obtain a Ph.D. received. He is the founder of the United Trungram Buddhist Foundation and the United Trungram Buddhist Fellowship (UTBF).
