Thusnelda in the triumphal procession of Germanicus is a large-format painting by Carl Theodor von Piloty , which was created in 1873. The history picture produced with oil paints on canvasis exhibited in the permanent collection of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich. It is signed “C. Piloty “signed.

The picture shows a triumphal procession in ancient Rome , which took place on May 23, 17 in honor of the Roman general Germanicus . Thusnelda is depicted in a central, brightly lit and majestic pose . With Thumelicus , the son of Arminius , whom she keeps with her protectively, she is the most important trophy of the triumphal procession. Behind her are the chieftains of the Cherusci , the brother of Thusnelda, Segimundus . The silhouette of the Roman Emperor Tiberius is depicted in the semi-darkness under a canopy on a throne. There are a number of other figures in the picture. The picture structure is diagonal.

The painting was created after two years of work. Four sketches are known. There is a copy in the format 135 × 200 cm in the Metropolitan Museum New York .

An earlier painting by the artist from 1867 with a very similar subject is in the Germanic National Museum .
