Thy Majestie is an Italian power metal - band , which was founded in the 1998th They describe their style of music as Symphonic Power Epic Metal. There is a similarity to the band Rhapsody of Fire from the same country , which is based on the fact that Rhapsody of Fire influences many Italian power metal bands.

The band was founded in 1998 when Giuseppe Bondì and Claudio Diprima, who had previously played Power Metal in a cover band , had the idea to play their own music. Soon the rest of the band positions were filled and they played their first demo band called Sword, Crown and Shields , which contained only three titles , with Maurizio Malta, Giovanni Santini, Michele Cristofalo and Dario Grillo . They soon made a second demo tape, which received good reviews. It was named Best Demo by Metal Hammer in May 1999 and Thy Majestie signed a contract with Scarlet Records. Shortly thereafter, bassist Cristofalo left the band and was replaced by Dario D'Alessandro.
In March 2000 they started recording their first album The Lasting Power , which received largely positive reviews. In June 2001, 1066 , a demo for their next album that should be better produced, was recorded. LIMB Music, the former record company of Rhapsody of Fire , made them an offer to sign with them after the release of 1066 , which they had to decline due to their ongoing contract with Scarlet Records. In January 2002 they went on tour with the American power metal band Kamelot . Then they recorded their second album Hastings 1066 from March to May 2002 , a concept album about the famous battle of Hastings . In December they went on a small tour with Vision Divine .
In November 2003 Dario Grillo left the band. After trying for some time to continue the work with Gabriele Grilli, the former singer of Doomsword , a suitable singer was found in the form of Giulio Di Gregorio. With him they went back to the studio in September 2004, this time their own music studio, to produce a new album. The recordings turned out to be difficult, according to the band, and they won't be able to complete them until June 2005. Jeanne d'Arc , the name of the new album, was released in October 2005 and is again a concept album, this time around Saint Joan of Arc . When Thy Majestie gave their first concert in April 2005 after the singer's illness, the band could no longer turn a blind eye to Giulio Di Gregorio's unsuitability as the band's English-speaking singer, because he doesn't speak good English. Other discrepancies also led to the singer's separation from the band.
When looking for a singer again, they first tried the American Matt Aub, who, however, lived too far away to really work effectively. In October / November 2006 they reunited with the former singer Dario Grillo, with whom they recorded their fourth album Dawn , which was released on September 1, 2008.
