Thymus longiflorus is a plant type from the genus of thyme ( Thymus ) in the family of Labiatae .

description

Thymus longiflorus is a 10 to 30 cm high, heavily branched dwarf shrub with ascending to upright stems . The leaves are (rarely only 6 to) 8 to 12 (rarely up to 15) mm long and (rarely only 0.5 to) 0.8 to 1 mm wide. They are linear, have velvety, fine-felted hairs, have no or only sparse ciliate lashes at the base and have a sessile or short stalk. The leaf margin is rolled back.

The inflorescences are almost spherical and measure up to 25 mm in diameter. The bracts measure up to 13 × 8 mm, are broadly ovate to elliptical, pointed, with entire margins and mostly ciliate, leathery and purple. The calyx is 5 to 7 mm long, the calyx tube is cylindrical, the upper teeth are narrowly lanceolate. The crown is about 15 mm long and colored purple.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 28.

Occurrence

The species is common in southeastern and southern Spain .
