Tiébélé is a municipality in the West African state of Burkina Faso and also the name of the department it belongs to. It is located in the south of the country in the Center-Sud region and the province of Nahouri , has 54,104 inhabitants including the 66 villages belonging to the municipality (2006 census) and is mainly populated by the Kassena ethnic group .
Tiébélé is known for the architecture of its farmsteads and the wall paintings that are carried out by the Kassena women. They use black paint, which is mixed from graphite powder and water, and white paint, which is obtained with the help of soapstone. The paint is applied to a red background made of clay, water and Néré pods. Today, however, more and more tar is used instead of clay. The motifs used are patterns and symbols taken either from everyday life or from religious symbols.
In Tiébélé there is also the homestead of the King (Cour Royale) of the Kassena, Poawê I., which can be visited.
