Tian Houwei ( Chinese  田 厚 威 ; born January 11, 1992 in Fuzhou ) is a Chinese badminton player .

Career

Tian Houwei won the men's singles title at the 2009 Asian Junior Championships. In 2011 he was in the final of the Russia Open, but lost there against his compatriot Zhou Wenlong . He finished ninth at the Canada Open that same year.

At the Yonex Australia Open 2013 he drew attention to himself when, despite being an outsider, he first won in the semifinals against world number one Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia and also won the final against Xue Song from China . With this he secured his first Grand Prix title .
