Tick is:

  • the German name of a cartoon character from Walt Disney, see residents of Duckburg
  • involuntary behavior, the correct spelling is tic
  • Colloquially, a certain habit or characteristic of a person, see Spleen
  • with IPX routing (IPX rip) a delay of 1/18 second. Instead of hop counting under IP- RIP , IPX-RIP uses the number of ticks to specify the metric.
  • A unit that can be counted by software in various computer operating systems (e.g. Windows, Mac OS) (1 tick = 1 chip calculation step)
  • a term for the child's play catch
  • in English-speaking countries a tick or similar control symbol
  • the smallest possible price change in a security price on spot or futures exchanges, see listing jump
