The Spital Tiefenau (formerly and colloquially Tiefenauspital ) is a public hospital in the Tiefenau district in the north of the city of Bern . It was founded in 1913 as the second city hospital next to the Ziegler Hospital in the south of Bern, and in 2007 it became part of Spital Netz Bern AG . This merged on January 1, 2016 with the Inselspital to form the new Insel Gruppe AG.
The Tiefenau Hospital provides basic and emergency medical care for the Bern region. The hospital is to be renovated structurally and technically in the years 2019 to 2021.
In the hospital, the numerous works of art by Niki de Saint Phalle , who was once treated as a patient in the Tiefenauspital, are particularly striking.
