Anna Catharina Wedderkopf (born December 20, 1715 in Lienzingen , † March 14, 1786 in Dürrmenz ) was a German businesswoman, consultant and women's rights activist .

Life

Wedderkopf was the third daughter of Simon Sidler and Jacobina Sidler (nee Geißler). After the death of her father, her mother married Johann Jakob Schmidgall. Both ran the still existing Gasthaus Hirsch, while Anna Catharina probably grew up with relatives in Mühlhausen / Enz.

Anna Catharina Sidler married Heinrich Johann Wedderkopf, a lawyer who was 18 years her senior, on May 15, 1736. Both lived temporarily in Mühlhausen an der Enz . After 28 years of childless marriage, she moved to Dürrmenz after the divorce. Anna Catharina Wedderkopf had considerable funds at her disposal at this point in time. Due to a loophole in the law, she won the right to apply for the tithe lease at the highest ducal authorities in Stuttgart . This involved auctioning the harvest yields due to the Maulbronn Monastery Office . These were awarded annually by bid. She was the only woman in Württemberg who did this. Wedderkopf died of wound and burn fever at the age of 70 . Before her death, she set up a foundation for non-begging housebreaks.
