Tilmann Joseph Godesberg

Tilmann Joseph Godesberg (born February 3, 1690 in Cologne ; † February 2, 1754 there ) was a priest and official in the Archdiocese of Cologne .

Godesberg studied at the German College in Rome Theology , where he also for sub-deacon was ordained. Ordained a priest on September 21, 1715 , he received a canonical to St. Maria ad Gradus (Cologne) on December 23, 1717 and another to St. Apostles in Cologne on September 24, 1722 . Appointed to the Cologne Cathedral Chapter on July 20, 1725 , Archbishop Clemens August I of Bavaria appointed Dr. theol. Godesberg received his doctorate in 1735 as President of the Court of Justice and thus introduced him to the secular government of Kurköln . On July 13, 1744, appointed official by the same archbishop, Godesberg was also a synod examiner , member of the secret council and the seminar commission.

Godesberg was a valued man in his day. He was considered a good theologian and morally impeccable. In his offices he enjoyed the reputation of a factual and conscientious official who was averse to all party activities.
