The Tim is a dealer or shopping mall in the historic city of Khiva Ichan Qal'а . Like all historical buildings in the old town, the Tim is part of the UNESCO World Heritage .

Building

The Tim was built in the first half of the 19th century. The Khan of the Khiva Alla Kuli Khanate had the urban center relocated to the east of the old town at the Palwan-Darwaza city gate between 1830 and 1840 . There he had the great madrasah Alla Kuli Khan built. As waqf , the new madrasah was awarded a caravanserai in addition to irrigated land, and the Tim built between the madrasah and caravanserai was awarded.

The existing city fortifications of Itchan-Kalas had to be broken through for the construction of the Alla Kuli Khan madrasah, the caravanserai and the Tim merchant passage . Tim received its own gate opening to the east with two round towers and a wall crown between them . The entrance from the old town is in the west, opposite the Tasch Hauli palace , which was also built under Alla Kuli Khan . The Tim is about 75 meters long and has fourteen stone domes of different sizes . The Tim is still used for trading.
