Tim O'Brien (2012)

William Timothy O'Brien (born October 1, 1946 in Austin , Minnesota ) is an American author , who goes by the short name Tim O'Brien about his experiences in the Vietnam War and the influence that the war had on the fighting American soldiers , writes. O'Brien teaches at Texas State University-San Marcos for the Texas State University MFA project, which aims to encourage creative writing .

In 1999 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences ; In 2013 he received the Pritzker Literature Award for Lifetime Achievement in Military Writing .
