Tim van der Velde (born April 13, 1996 in Cologne ) is a German basketball player .

career

Van der Velde comes from the youth department of SG Köln 99ers, which was absorbed into RheinStars Köln in 2013 . From the first season of the RheinStars he played in the men's team of Cologne, made the promotion to the first regional league in 2014 and in the 2014/15 season he won the championship title in the western season of the first regional league. Then van der Velde went to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA with the RheinStars after the ProB had been skipped.

In summer 2017 he left his hometown Cologne and continued his career at ETB Essen in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB  . After a year in Essen, he returned to Cologne, the team had previously voluntarily retired to the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. With the Cologne team, he missed staying in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB in 2018/19 and played with the team in the 1st Regional League West in the 2019/20 season. Van der Velde ended the game year with his Cologne team in first place in the table, the season ended prematurely in March 2020 due to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus .

During the summer break of 2020, he left Cologne and went to study in Vienna .

National team

He took part in the 2012 European Championship with Germany's U18 team, was part of the German squad at the 2014 Albert Schweitzer Tournament and won the gold medal at the B-EM in summer 2014 with the U18 national team.
