Timaima Tamoi (born November 30, 1987 in Suva ) is a Fijian 7-a-side rugby player.

Life

Tamoi comes from the village of Ketei on the island of Totoya in the Lau Islands , but was born in Suva. Here she also graduated from Laucala Bay Secondary School.

Sports career

In 2012 she joined the Central Chiefs Women's Rugby Club and played there until 2014 when she was elected to the women's 7-a-side rugby team. In 2015 she took part in the international tournament Canada Women's Sevens . This was followed by the election to the team for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . For the first time rugby was approved as an Olympic discipline, the women's team with Tamoi reached eighth place, while the men's team won their first gold medal for Fiji.
