Timo de Wolff

Timo de Wolff (* 1982 ) is a German mathematician and university professor . His research focus is on algebraic geometry ( real algebraic geometry and algorithmic algebraic geometry ).

Life

De Wolff studied at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main , from 2002 to 2011 philosophy, and from 2004 to 2009 mathematics. He completed his philosophy studies with a Magister , his mathematics studies with a diploma . From 2009 to 2013 he worked as a doctoral candidate in the computer science and mathematics department of the university. In 2013 he received his doctorate with the dissertation On the Geometry, Topology and Approximation of Amoebas with Thorsten Theobald . From July 2013 to August 2014 he was a post-doctoral student at Saarland University . He then was Visiting Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University in College Station from August 2014 to May 2017 . From May 2017 to April 2019 he led an Emmy Noether junior research group at the Technical University of Berlin . Since April 2019 he has been a professor at the Technical University of Braunschweig .

He has been a member of the Junge Akademie since 2019 .
